“We are ambassadors for Messiah, as though God were making an appeal through us.” 2 Cor 5:20

Kingdom Marriage - FOUNDATION

Having a healthy marriage is critically important, especially as disciples of Christ: to honor God and HIS divine design, to fulfill HIS purposes as “suitable counterparts,” and to enjoy the blessings intended for those whom HE has “joined as one flesh.’  This study lays the Biblical foundation for a “Kingdom marriage,” and as you read and discuss these scriptures together, invite Holy Spirit to bring His wisdom, understanding and revelation.  God’s TRUTH has power to cleanse, heal and restore us from worldly philosophies, doctrines of men and demonic influences that have found a place in our thoughts, attitudes, and practices. Let us tend to our marriage garden: by establishing proper boundaries, preparing fertile soils, sowing God’s Word and watering it by the Holy Spirit so we can start enjoying a truly blessed bounty!

Kingdom Marriage - HONOR ROLES

Husbands and wives have equal value in Christ (divine honor, dignity and glory), but have been created with distinct graces, giftings and roles to function as “suitable counterparts” to fulfill God’s purposes as “one flesh.” The Biblical design, plan and order for marriage conflicts sharply with those of this worldly culture; however, as disciples of Christ, the blueprint we follow for life, especially in marriage, is found in God’s word.  Some of the scriptures presented in this study will challenge us, they may expose painful wounds and be difficult to talk about... but it is worth it. As you prayerfully read and discuss these verses together, practice the following principles: honor the Lord and one another by extending love, humility, mercy and grace toward one another; focus more on how you can better apply the word than where your spouse is falling short; growth and change takes time, so be patient and don’t press issues beyond what can be discussed peaceably; there is no winner in a "one flesh" relationship... we either both win or we both lose.
